افعال کمکی ناقص           Modal Auxiliary verbs

این افعال در جملات خبری بعد از فاعل و قبل از فعل اصلی قرار می گیرند. این افعال عبارتند از : can, may , must, should, will,...

نکته : بعد از افعال کمکی شکل ساده فعل ( مصدر بدون to ) بکار می رود.

فعل اصلی+ فعل کمکی + فاعل

کاربرد can

1-برای بیان توانایی در زمان حال

I can speak French

Can you ride a bicycle?

I can't swim

2- برای اجازه خواستن و اجازه دادن

 "Can I see the newspaper?     "Yes , of course.Here you are

کاربرد Could

could شکل گذشته فعل کمکی can است.

I could speak English before

Reza couldn't drive a car 3 years ago

Could you get up early this morning?

1-         Ali............ swim very well last year ,but now he can

2-                                    She couldn't ...........the alphabet

کاربرد must

برای بیان اجبار شدید به خودمان و یا دیگران در زمان حال و آینده استفاده می شود.must شکل گذشته نداردو اگر بخواهیم آن را به گذشته تبدیل کنیم از فعل کمکی had to  استفاده میکنیم.

The teacher must teach it again

The teacher had to teach it again

We must finish the book

We had to finish the book

He didn't have a bicycle last year. He .......... walk to school
