Look at these examples:
How shall we travel? By car or by train? Let's go by car. It's cheaper.Don't go by train. It's more expensive. After comparatives you can use than. It's cheaper to go by car than by train. Going by train is more expensive than going by car. The comparative form is -er or more ... We use -er for short words ( one syllable ): cheap__cheaper fast__faster large__larger thin__thinnerWe also use -er for two syllable words that end in -y (-y__-ier): lucky__luckier early__earlierCompare these examples: You're older than me. Last night I went to bed earlier than usual. We use more ...for longer words(two syllables or more): more expensive more comfortableThe exam was quite difficult- more difficult than we expected یکشنبه 20 شهریور 1390 :: 15:06 :: نويسنده : S.Alidadi
Mike was a small boy, and he hated soap and water. Three or four times every day his mother said to him, " Mike, your hands are very dirty again. Go and wash them." But Mike never really washed them well. He only put his hands in the water for a few seconds and then took them out again. یکشنبه 20 شهریور 1390 :: 15:04 :: نويسنده : S.Alidadi
I will and I'm going to
will ('ll) : We use will when we decide to do something at the same time of speaking. The speaker has not decided before. Sue: Let's have a party Helen: That's a great idea. We'll invite lot's of people going to : We use (be) going to when we have already decided to to do something Helen: Sue and I have decided to have a party. We're going to invite lots of people. Sometimes there is not much difference between will and going to. For example, you can say: I think the weather will be nice later. I think the weather is going to be nice later. When we say ' something is going to happen; we know (or think)this because of the situation now. For example: Look at those black clouds. It's going to rain. (not 'it will rain'- we can see the clouds now) I feel terrible. I think I'm going to be sick.( not 'I think I'll be sick- I feel terrible now) In other situations, it is safer to use will:Tom will probably arrive at about 8 o'clock. I think Ann will like the present we bought for her

A lawyer said to his father, " Those fine speeches of the declaimers make no impression on me, because I do not see their actions correspond with their precepts They teach people to forsake the world, whilst themselves accumulate property A wise man who preaches without practicing will not impress others That person is wise who abstaineth from sin, not he who teacheth good to others whilst himself commiteth evil

The Advice of Nizami to His Son
Although poetry be of high dignity Seek thou the knowledge of what is useful The Prophet hath said " The science of sciences Is the science of matter and the science of faith Is the navel of each is a fragrant odour In that of the law, and in that of medicine Endeavour to be a physician with life-giving breath of Jesus Not the one that puts people to death Let the law instruct thee in the service of God Let it not be to thee a teacher of sophistries If thou become an adept in both Thou will have reached the summit of excellence And wilt be held in high estimation in the sight of all men یکشنبه 20 شهریور 1390 :: 14:44 :: نويسنده : S.Alidadi
